180 degree rule

The 180 degree rule

The 180 degree rule is a guideline that states that two characters should maintain the same left/right relationship to one another, and the camera cannot cross the invisible line between these two people. If this line is crossed the 180 degree rule is broken. You must keep the camera on one side of this axis for the entirety of the scene.
